Sarah High Psychiatry provides psychiatric evaluations and medication management for individuals ages 16–60 in Maryland and Washington, DC. Clinical areas of interest include women's mental health, Deaf mental health, and transitional age youth.
Psychiatric Medication Management Specialties
Psychiatric medication management is an ongoing, collaborative process that involves understanding your symptoms in the context of your life experiences, discussing treatment options, prescribing medications when appropriate, monitoring your progress, and adjusting your treatment plan as your needs evolve.
Women’s Mental Health
Hormonal changes, caregiving responsibilities, career stress, infertility challenges, and menopause can all affect mental health. Sarah works with women experiencing anxiety, depression, mood changes, burnout, and emotional overwhelm.
Pregnancy & Postpartum
Pregnancy and the postpartum transition bring significant emotional and physical changes. Sarah provides psychiatric medication management and support for reproductive mental health concerns and postpartum mood and anxiety disorders.
Deaf & Hard-of-Hearing Communities
Access to mental health care should not be limited by communication barriers. Sarah offers direct psychiatric services in American Sign Language, creating a more accessible and comfortable experience for many Deaf and hard-of-hearing patients.
Transitional Age Youth
College, careers, relationships, independence, and identity development can create unique stressors. Sarah works with young adults facing anxiety, depression, ADHD, academic stress, and major life transitions.
A compassionate, collaborative approach to treatment
Mental health treatment works best when patients feel heard, respected, and involved in decision-making. Sarah focuses on building a therapeutic relationship that supports long-term wellness and realistic treatment goals.
Conservative Medication Approach
Medication decisions are individualized and made carefully. Treatment focuses on finding the right balance between symptom improvement, side effects, lifestyle factors, and long-term health.
Accessible Communication
Whether working with hearing patients or providing direct ASL-based care, communication remains at the center of every appointment and treatment plan.
Whole-Person Perspective
Symptoms rarely exist in isolation. Sarah considers relationships, life stressors, physical health, sleep, work, family responsibilities, and personal goals when creating treatment recommendations.
